Robbie Burns Supper

Thursday, January 26th, 2006

Kurt and I decided to crash the local Irish pub after work. I know it’s a Scotish holiday, but Ned Devines was going out in full force so we had to tag along. We started out with some scotches to the birthday of Scotlands greatest poet.

Since we didn’t have the offical Ned Devines tickets to the supper we had to pester the waitresses to get us a few plates of haggis. The reading of “To The Haggis” by Robbie Burns himself was read by the piper after he piped in the tasty treat. I really enjoy hearing the bag pipes played live. It’s such a loud instrument though for being just an air bladder and some pipes.

Robbie Burns day is definitly one of my new favorite holidays!

A Busy Monday

Monday, January 23rd, 2006

I took the time to go to work, vote, have dinner with the Biamontes - well it was more like after, but we tried. I then stuck around to watch a full Leafs vs. Sens game and on the way home bought gas for 90.9 cents/L.

Credit Cards

Sunday, January 15th, 2006

In your opinion, which situation is more secure?

  • Giving your credit card to an employee at a restaurant.
  • Purchasing something online with a secure connection to the sellers website.

Civic Duty

Monday, January 9th, 2006

That’s right, tonight all of Canada must watch TV - that is unless you can be there in person. The leaders debate is on tonight, be sure to watch so you can make an informed decision.

Plus I like to see some others sweat it out under the hot lights, just like public speaking back in grade school.

Update:
Did anybody notice the slight zoom in as the leaders were talking? When they got to the passionate part of their discussion they were pretty much in my living room.

Also Stephen Harpers practiced grin scared me. I think I’m going to have conservative nightmares tonight. Jack Layton just seemed like a sales man, I’m sick of hearing about the “other choice”.

I liked the flair that sparked on National Unity. It bothers me that the Bloc is invited to these debates. They should require a representitive from each province in order to qualify for the leaders debate.

Burgess Stag

Friday, January 6th, 2006

Rich Burgess is getting married on February the 18th, 2006 so we’re throwing a stag for him this Saturday the 7th in Hamilton.

Meet at Westend after 1pm to play some poker and have a few drinks and dinner. Then we’re off to the Bulldogs game around 6 and then who knows…

Happy New Year!

Sunday, January 1st, 2006

Good bye 2005 and hello 2006.

Somebody break out the words to “Auld Lang Syne” because I forget them every year. It’s not hammered into you for 2 months like the Christmas carols.

Cheers and Kisses!
